Maalaea

A picturesque harbor area that serves as the departure point for many of Maui’s fishing, snorkeling, and sunset dinner cruises, Maalaea Bay has been designated part of the National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary. This small seaside community, conveniently situated only 7 miles from Kihei, 8 miles from Kahului, and 15 miles from Lahaina, consists of nine condo complexes, a handful of sizable ocean-front homes, and a few parcels of land. Bordered by Haycraft Beach Park to the south (which connects it to a 2.5-mile sandy stretch known as Sugar Beach), Maalaea also contains restaurants, bars, gift shops, the Maui Ocean Center aquarium, and the Maui Golf & Sports Park amusement center.
